If you are a Hollywood movie buff you would straight away find resemblance of The Family Man with True Lies. What Hollywood does in 19th-century Bollywood disastrously replicates in the 20th century. Having said that I show my full regards to Manoj Bajpayee who has very efficiently handled his role as the family man. Also all credits to him for single-handedly shouldering the series to be funny and a bit nail-biting. Which of course would have otherwise suffered a terrible journey. The comic timings were incredible so were his intense moments in the series.
The Movie
The family man by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK is a series based on an agent of a government organization TASC. Srikant Tiwari who is underpaid but sincere in his duty towards the country and is looked upon by his subordinates and his friends. He is the go-to person in an emergency, whether a bomb blast or terrorist hiding in Balochistan. Were as in his family he is the last man to know what’s going on with his family.
His wife Suchitra Tiwari(Priyamani) disregards him due to his lack of duty towards his family. She wants to break free from the monotonous family life. She gets Arvind(Sharad Kelkar) to help her out of her distress.
Sri and Suchi’s children have their own ways of finding trouble. When his daughter is trying to save her crush from being found out having drugs, his son very foolishly is playing with a loaded gun.
The series focuses on the matter of the radicalization of the Kashmiri students. This is when the whole plot goes for a toss and things start feeling misty. At times Priyamani’s overwhelming characterization takes the lead to cater to the defect in the script on the other part. Priyamani’s role as an independent woman taking critical decisions does help gulp episodes which otherwise lackluster.
Though the holes in the script which should have been woven better to be at par were the slum shootout, the scooter blast and the false alarm of radicalization. The Kashmiri student’s plot were a little forced it seemed to put Srikant in Balochistan.
