STORYLINE
As the story opens we see Naina (Taapsse Pannu) is accused for committing a murder and she is dead set on to free herself from such allegation. Naina is represented in the movie as wealthy successful and sagacious business women. She with the help of her friend and lawyer Jimmy (Manav Kaul) hires an experienced advocate Badal Gupta who is the only hope for her to get out of the trap of murder.
Although to establish the story some foreign locations are showed, but mostly the scenes are acted in a room. The room is the posh apartment of Naina where Badal Gupta, her lawyer comes to solve the case of murder.
CRISIS
Badal Gupta (Amitabh Bachchan) is presented as a veteran, mature and experienced practitioner. He is not only an expert in his field but well- read persona. His unique style of solving the case is his judging the case from different perspectives. He invokes ideas and dictums from the epic tale of Mahabharata to apply real time in his cases.
In the story, Naina gives facts to Badal Gupta that she was in an illicit love affair with a guy named Arjun (Tony Luke). She goes to spend some time with Arjun in Scottland but lied to her husband by informing him that she is going on a business trip to Paris.
In the meanwhile, Naina met with an accident in the car while she was driving which was the result of a heated argument between Naina and Arjun. The accident killed a young boy who was also driving and they both got panicked after the incident. They planned to hide the dead body along with the car to cover their crime but crime is always followed by punishment so they got their parts.
The interesting part of the movie you will notice is, the story of murder is viewed from different angles by Badal Gupta the newly appointed lawyer for Naina. In order to make Naina speak about the truth, Badal Gupta played ‘what if’ game. He interestingly made three versions of the story where the culprit is once Naina, then Arjun her boyfriend and finally the victim’s mother Rani (Amrita Singh). This twist and turn of the story make it engaging until the end of the movie.
MY ASSESSMENT
- The script is engaging and everything is presented in detail.
Right amount of tension is pulled till the end of the story with various twist and turns.- Again two great actors Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsse Pannu
is seen together after the great success of the movie Pink. - Dialogue seemed
little repetitive but the emotion is conveyed anyway. - Too much of back and forth of the scenes made the movie
little tedious. - The Little predictable plot when a couple meets Arjun, became friendly no time and invites
hime for coffee. The couple was Rani (Amrita Singh) and Nimbi (Tanveer Ghani) the victim’s father.
